I am so sad this weekend is almost over. Friday we went out to dinner for one of our counselor's birthdays. We went into Motta, which is a tiny town about 15 minutes from base. We went to a really cute pizza place called Donna Fortuna. I got a pasta dish, which was okay, but I should stick with pizza when we go out to eat. We went out for gelato afterwards which was really good. I got a cherry cheesecake flavor. :)
Yesterday 6 of us went up to Mt. Etna, the tallest European volcano. 3 people went all the way to the top, and 3 of us stayed towards the bottom and walked around the smaller, former volcanoes around the base. We were there most of the day. It was really pretty, but honestly not unlike any other mountain, and I did not need to be there all day. However, for the people from Iowa, apparently mountains are this crazy novel idea, so they loved it.
Today we slept in. Which I seriously needed. We went grocery shopping and then I think we are going out for burgers down the road for dinner! Woo! :) Here's to being ready for the second week of camp, Silly Sports Spectacular!

Things I Have Learned
- Make friends with your cab driver. He will take you to his peach farm and give you a box of fresh, Sicilian peaches. :)
- On that note, peaches with the skin on is an acquired taste.
- People think it's weird if you wear jeans to hike a mountain. Whatever!
- If you tell shopkeepers that you are from America, they assume you are from New York!
